NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WTVF) — Valentine’s Day is in full bloom at Geny’s Flowers.

“I mean in the flower business it’s the biggest weekend of course,” said spokesperson for Geny’s Flowers, Claudia Lombana. The shop plans to sell 15,000 roses alone this holiday. This year’s most popular bouquet is called Love Struck. “Touch free delivery has of-course been a big thing for us, being able to leave flowers deliveries on somebody’s doorstep if that’s what they’re comfortable with we can do,” said Lombana.

This all comes after a year full of thorns thanks to COVID-19.

“We have had to pivot as a small business in order to accommodate that. We have seen a drop in weddings, certainly in events,” Lombana said. “We have seen an increase in flowers being delivered to hospitals, for example, or funeral homes, for example- a sad part of what we’ve all been dealing with for the past year, but yeah it’s definitely a reality.”

Still, the weekend ahead does present a big opportunity for small businesses like Geny’s to make up for lost sales.

“I think that people are still ordering flowers, they’re still buying flowers for loved ones on Valentine’s Day it’s something that COVID is fortunately not preventing is expressions of love for other people,” said Lombana.
